GFRA INFORMATION

The Greater Fairbanks Racing Association is a not-for-profit local race organization.  GFRA was founded expressly to preserve and promote safe and fun dirt track stock car racing in Fairbanks, Alaska.

GFRA currently owns and operates the Robert Mitchell Memorial Raceway, located off South Peger Road. (Driving Directions)

GFRA is one of the few grass-roots variety racing organizations left in the US.  Our organization is comprised of a general membership of racers, fans, and dedicated board members elected each year to keep GFRA alive and well.

Family Fun!

Events at the Mitchell Raceway are fun for the whole family! A huge sandbox and jungle gym keeps
the little guys happy, while fast cars, great racing, and good company keep the rest of us busy!

The concession stand has plenty of snacks and sodas, and the beer shack offers refreshment in the
adult section.

Stock car races are held almost every weekend throughout the summer, and extra events are
sprinkled in throughout the season. Special events include a knockout Demolition Derby,
Mud Bog Racing, Monster Trucks, and Invitationals for state race teams.

Become a member of GFRA!

Any racing fan, race car driver or "wanna be" can join GFRA. Membership is not required, but everyone interested is encouraged to join. Membership allows each person a voice in the organization, and pit fees are reduced for racers who are also members. Members also receive the GFRA newsletter to keep them up to date on organization news and events.

If you have ideas, time, or skills you would like to donate to GFRA, or if you just love racing, consider becoming a member today!

Want to Race?

New racers are ALWAYS welcome!  Drivers and their cars must follow all class rules and safety regulations, which have been updated for the 2008 season. Build your car, pay your fees, and come race with us at the Mitchell Raceway!
